The Goal of Cadeting
Luke 2:52 states that "Jesus grew in
wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men." The goal of
the Calvinist Cadet Corps, based upon that verse, is to help
boys to grow spiritually in all areas of life (devotional,
mental, physical, and social) by providing Christian men with a
uniquely designed structure, program, and materials so that they
can mentor boys effectively.

The
Program
Cadets is
for boys ages 7-11. We meet Friday evenings from 7-9 p.m.
This program runs from mid-September to early May. Each boy
receives a uniform to wear every Friday night. The groups we
have are as follows: Junior Cadets (ages 7, 8) Recruits (age 9)
Pathfinders (age 10) Builders (age 11). Each program within the Cadets is geared to
that age group.
The boys all receive a monthly ‘Crusader’ magazine to take home.
A typical evening involves opening exercises, bible study, badge
work or
crafts. We try to go on outings as a group once a month
(i.e., swimming, canoeing, floor hockey).
As part of Cadets, we do Knot Tying, Compass, Snow Derby. The
boys also build a car from a block of wood and race it against
each other. If this sounds interesting to your boy, please come
out and join us!!!
Important reminders to parents:
Club/Council events
are not considered optional for the cadets! These
activities the boys train for throughout the year and need
certain numbers just to participate.
If at any time, be it an outing or regular club
meeting, a ride is needed, please contact us as early as you can
so arrangements can be made to allow your son to participate.
Uniforms are not
optional, even if you will be late because i.e. Hockey
practice. "I forgot", by the cadets, is not an acceptable excuse.
If this is a consistent problem, action by you (parent) and us
(cadet leaders) will be discussed.
As weather permits we will do outdoor
activities, therefore the cadets will need clothing ready at all
times to fit the weather. (Foot wear, sweaters, jackets, warm
hats etc)
A cadet season cannot
be made possible without your (parents) help on the scene
or behind the scene and I can’t say how much this is
appreciated. If there are any concerns you might have, please talk
to us about them. These reminders are not here to be a burden
but to ensure your sons gain the most from the Cadet program
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give
you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of
you.”
