Godspell... the word
Gospel is derived from Anglo Saxon "Gódspell"
(ca AD 1000), which means "good news" or "glad
tidings"...
Last
Sunday, we were pleased to have students from
Parkside High School in Dundas present songs from
their production of the musical
Godspell,
based on the Gospel of Matthew along with parables
and incidents from other Gospels.
The play
tells the story of how Jesus draws together a
community to follow Him and to embody the Kingdom of
God in their culture. The play’s message is as
powerful today as when the play was written in 1970.
Of course we know that the message of the Good News
is timeless and yet needs to be felt and literally
“acted out” in every culture and every age. We thank
the cast for reminding us of this truth through
their presence with us.
Small groups celebrate...
Are you part of a small group? Do you wonder what the
small group experience is like? We invite you to join us
in the sanctuary on Jan. 29 at 6:00 p.m. to sing and
pray as we praise God for what He has done and continues
to do through our congregation’s small groups. A member
of each of our small groups will share briefly
concerning how God has changed them through their small
group. Small groups will also provide dessert for a time
of fellowship after our gathering. Child care will be
offered. Plan now to join us!

Worried about worship service cancellations due to
severe weather? Listen to Hamilton radio station 900

Junior & Senior Youth
mission trip fundraiser...
This spring the Jr. and Sr. Youth will venture out on a
weekend Mission Trip to Downtown Hamilton. We will
attempt to demonstrate God's love through different
activities and partnerships with local organizations and
will try to better understand what it's like to be in
need in our city. To support this Mission Trip, we are
selling 5" pizzas in packs of 8. Vegetarian, Canadian,
Pepperoni and Hawaiian pizzas are available - all for
only $14 per 8-pack. These will be made through Topp
fundraising by Westdale youth with all fresh ingredients
and may be kept in the fridge for 7 days or frozen for
up to 6 months - so stock up! Orders are due Sunday
January 15th and will be ready for pick-up on Sunday
January 29th. So flag down some youth and please order
some pizzas - you'll be supporting our youth and our
city at the same time!
